Shopping For Men’s Jewelry Online

By Liz Harrison

Just because diamonds have always been considered “a girl’s best friend” doesn’t mean that men don’t enjoy the sparkle of gold jewelry, with or without a diamond. In fact, more and more men of today are indulging in some of the finer accessories in life, such as 14K yellow gold money clips, cufflinks, and even a bracelet or two.

The truth of the matter is that jewelry has been worn by men for centuries, both in the higher, elite classes as well as the middle class; distinctive items of intrinsic value have been handed down from generation to generation. It’s much easier to get exactly what you’re looking for today, as the Internet has made shopping for just about anything easier, bringing the tiny shops and larger, specialty stores directly into your home. All you need to know is what to look for when searching for your ideal online retailer of quality men’s jewelry.

First things first, you need to decide on a budget that you can live with, and you need to stick to it. It’s very easy to fall in love with a pricier piece, but it just won’t be worth it in the long run, if you can’t afford it.

Next, will it be white gold, yellow gold, sterling silver, or something else like titanium or platinum? If you’re going for the gold, you have the karat weight to consider. 10K is the hardest of the golden metals, but also the lowest quality (and price). 24K is the softest and most expensive. 14K and 18K are median options that offer a blend of a reasonable price with higher quality. Two-toned gold is a choice offered in just about every type of men’s jewelry, including watches and chains/necklaces. Tri-colored gold refers to any piece of jewelry with white, yellow and rose-colored (has a slightly pinkish hue) gold.

Third on our list is to pick a general category or two (like, for example, money clips and cufflinks). While cufflinks might be your first choice, you just may find a stunning money clip for significantly less than your first choice in cufflinks, or visa-versa. Keeping your mind open a bit to new and exciting possibilities is one of the best ways to find unique men’s jewelry items.

After you’ve decided on the above, you need to find the right online shop to fill your order. Be sure that you’re dealing with a secure website for starters, preferably with a “fraud clause” or something similar to protect against hackers and such. Look for a guarantee to make you feel warm and safe. A good return policy is crucial, because you just never know, and a price guarantee of some sort to alleviate the worry of finding an identical item in a week or two at a significantly lower price.

Liz Harrison recommends Heavenly Treasures if you’re shopping for men's jewelry.

Commercial Carpet Is A Must For Your Commercial Area

By Stephen Robins

Carpets are used in many places to make a room or house look beautiful. Carpets which are used in commercial places are known as commercial carpets. In today’s world, which is hugely competitive, being successful in whatever you do is vital. There are many things that contribute towards making a business or any other venture successful. The interior of a place including the carpet, tiles or the area rugs are some of the things that help in giving professional look to a place. Your commercial place can be anything starting from an office to hotel to restaurant or something else.

There is a wide variety of commercial carpet available in the market and you can easily find the type you want to use in your office or any other commercial area. Depending on the kind of commercial place you have, you must make the choice of commercial carpet. Suppose if you have an office where you need your staff to work in complete silence, then you can opt for commercial carpets. The carpet which you use must be thick and of good quality. Well it is not that you will replace your commercial carpet every year. So make a smart choice about this as you are undertaking all this for the progress of your business.

The best part of using commercial carpet in your office or commercial place is that the carpets can mask footstep and other sounds. It can be very annoying for a person, who is completely immersed in his/her work and suddenly sounds of footstep or any other clattering noise disturbs you. The entire concentration of the person breaks and needless to say that work will indeed be affected because of this. The color, design and make of the commercial carpet are also important. Make an effort to choose commercial carpet in subdued color tones. Surely, you will not want your office to look garish with carpets of abnormally bright shade.

In your city, you will find several stores that sell commercial carpets, tiles and area rugs. Area rugs are not very commonly used in commercial outlets. However, certain exceptions are there. This can be used in some places like the reception area or some of the rooms in a hotel or restaurant. Getting commercial carpet, tiles and area rugs is not a difficult this. You can go to the store and choose the type of carpet that you want. Most carpets dealers have professionals working for them, who can help you in making an estimate. The professional can come to your office and provide an exact estimate of the amount of carpet which you will need. He can also tell the correct amount of money that you have to pay.

Keeping your commercial carpet clean and dust free is also important. So simply buying the commercial carpet is not sufficient, you must know the right method to keep the carpet clean. Try to buy commercial carpet which can resist liquid spillage. Controlling the spillage in a carpet is a tough job, so the best you can do is buy commercial carpet that is spill resistant, so that you do not have to worry about anything.

Your Young Astronomer Will Love a Kids Telescope

By William Wilson

If your youngster is showing interest in stargazing and astronomy, a kids telescope can get them started with their new hobby without a large investment. Realize that a kids telescope is not a toy, but a fully functioning beginner telescope without all the advanced features.

Giving your youngster a kids telescope will let them know that you support their interest in astronomy and see it as a worthwhile endeavor. A real telescope, even without all the features, can give your child or grandchild a head start in learning about the universe and star systems.

Investing in a Kids Telescope

While you can purchase a child telescope for under $25, these are really more of a toy than a functioning astronomy telescope. A real basic beginner telescope can be purchased for around $100 and can provide the young astronomer with a gateway to the heavens. If you wish to invest a little more, a good starter telescope with some of the more advanced features, will cost anywhere from $200 to $300. This will provide your youngster with a quality piece of stargazing equipment.

As the child’s interest grows, an investment in a more sophisticated telescope model might be appropriate. For instance, many young astronomers enjoy having the capability to photograph certain star formations or passing comets.

Tips for Buying the Right Child Telescope

Many astronomers and educators recommend a telescope with a longer focal length and separate viewer. This allows the child to find objects much easier and reduces the frustration that can result for the novice astronomer.

There are many cheaper models that offer a focal length of only 30mm or 50mm and will provide a more generalized view of the night sky. However, if you want a telescope that will provide a more detailed picture of the planets, moon and constellations, a 70mm or higher focal length is strongly recommended.

Kids telescopes are available from a number of top-rate optics companies like Meade, Celestron, Bushnell, Orion and many others. Even the Discovery Channel offers an affordable 70mm lens kids telescope with easy set-up and easy-to-use features.

Meade provides some of the best telescopes on the market today and caters to the amateur astronomer – from beginner to expert levels. For example, a 1000mm focal length telescope with photographic capabilities can be purchased for about $150. This is an excellent choice for the new astronomer because it provides a very good view of the heavens and shows details of the planets and moon that are generally not found with a telescope in this price range. An added bonus is that a 35mm camera can be attached to this telescope that allows your child to preserve those special night sky views on film.

How to Use a Kids Telescope

Reading the instructions for your child’s new telescope can’t be stressed enough. Even the basic kids’ telescopes can be confusing to use the first few times. It is advisable for the parent to read through the instruction manual and help the child astronomer learn the basics of the telescope’s operating features.

A great way to enhance your child’s interest in astronomy is to view the night skies together. There is no better way to bond with your child than by enjoying the same hobbies and actively pursuing them together.

A kids telescope can open up a whole new exciting world to your youngster. It can broaden their understanding of the universe and allow them to be a part of the cosmos beyond just this planet. Why not invest in your child by getting them a kids telescope for fun, education, and a true bonding experience.

Batteries of Mobile Phones

By Tim Mathew

In a mobile phone the battery is equivalent to the heart in the human body. As much as mobile phones are evolving, batteries are still yet to be developed.

Sure a phone can stand by even for a couple of weeks, Philips 650 is one example, but when speaking of in call battery life they sure do pale. Older cell phones used Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) powered batteries which both had their disadvantages. Among them were "memory effect" and the heavy metal used in the production process. The "memory effect" is the voltage depression of the mobile phone's battery. In other words, if you do not completely discharge the battery before recharging it, after a number of cycles the battery remembers the low level at which it was charged and from that point forward it acts like it was discharged. NiCd batteries suffered more than NiMh ones from the "memory effect".

Nowadays the mobile phones are powered only by Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) or by Lithium Polymer (Li-Poly). The first is currently the most used type of battery for cell phones. Compared to NiCd and NiMh powered batteries, the Li-Ion ones are lighter and they don't suffer from the "memory effect". They do have one major disadvantage, they have an irreversibly yearly loss of approximately 18%-20% of their capacity. It seems that the future in mobile phone industry consist of the Lithium Polymer batteries. The Li-Poly batteries have a greater lifecycle than Li-Ion and they also have a 20% higher energy density. Though they cost somewhat more than Li-Ion ones, Lithium Polymer batteries seem to be the next choice of mobile phone manufacturers, and with increased production cost will eventually go down.

To supply for the lack of evolution in the battery department cell phones producers are developing low-voltage displays and they are implementing power saving programs. In conclusion, a lot of more time will pass until we'll see a mobile phone capable of standing by for two months or capable to hold a conversation for more than 24 hours.

Even though producers like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola or Sony Ericsson are trying their best to enlarge the battery life the steps taken are very small.

LCD VS Plasma TVs

By Davri R

There are a few points to consider when making your new purchase.

Size: Both LCD and Plasma TV’s are as thin as you could hope for. In terms of screen sizes Plasmas are generally the point of choice if you want to go large (around 40” upwards) whilst the LCD’s cater for the smaller sizes (anything down to a 15”). However, this isn't to say you can't get a good 40” LCD TV; you can, its just that the Plasma tends to be the point of choice if you are going REALLY big.

Viewing Angle: Plasmas tend to boast a fantastic viewing angle of anything up to 160 degrees around the screen. Whereas LCD’s tend to lose a lot of contrast and colour at these sorts of angles. However, if you are using your screen for some sort of front-on cinema option there is very little difference.

Screen burn: Plasma screens are susceptible to something called screen burn, which occurs when a bright image, like the BBC news 24 news ticker, is displayed on screen for an extended period of time. The constant saturation 'tires' plasma's phosphors, leaving a permanent shadow of the bright image behind. LCD technology is pretty much immune to this problem.

Longevity: Some industry types would have us believe that the LCD TV’s can last twice as long as their Plasma counterparts (around 40 years with 4hrs use against 20 years with 4hrs). Obviously these are very much LCD-biased reports, but it does seem that LCD does last longer. (It really depends on how many 24 hour Xbox 360 sessions you have!)

Power consumption: LCD’s require less power than Plasmas. Simple. So for you green-fingered technophiles, LCD would be the way to go!

Colour Saturation: Plasma traditionally scores high here because of the way it blocks light, turning off pixels when they're not needed so that no stray light can dilute its colours. With LCD it is commonly known that it can't do black quite as well. So you might get “very dark grey” but not a pure black.

Conclusion:

So, LCD or Plasma? They are much of a much ness really. One tip, especially for those that want to future proof, make sure that the telly is HD ready, with component and HDMI inputs on the back. Don't just harp for a quick and cheap LCD telly on eBay (as my friend recently did, and found out there were no such inputs. He was a little disgruntled because he didn't get the full Xbox 360 “experience”)

Just research want you want from the TV (size, cost, power consumption etc) and make your choice based on that.

For me, its back to the 360 on my lovely 32 inch LCD HD ready Samsung. Biased? Me? No!

Cell Phones: Are They A Luxury or Necessity

By Elane Williams

Cellular phones have been called on to the carpet in legislators in some provinces and states. The small appliance has been responsible for causing various accidents and have even resulted in deaths. The person using it is usually driving and because they are more interested in their conversation than watching the road their reflexes are slower and then it is a clear case of careless driving.

To those of us with chronic illness though they aren't a luxury, they are almost a necessity for us especially those of us with mobility problems. I have witnessed several times in the past year when somebody could have used one and was stuck waiting for somebody else to rescue them. The professional that maintains and repairs my scooter suggested a cell phone for several very good reasons and now I tend to agree with him.

I have used mine in different situations, to call home when we were going to be late. Calling a cab when the car wouldn't start. Calling to say I was fine so my family wouldn't worry about me and then there is always calling the mechanic then a tire goes flat on your main transportation when your out and about.

These wouldn't seem like good enough reasons for some people. My experience has been that when you have a chronic condition or disability family and friends tend to worry when you are late or they can't get in touch with you.So for the small investment of between $50 and $100 and the cell phone companies coming up with different service plan there is sure to be one that is duible for you. So it might be worth it for you to buy one and keep it owith you all the time or just for emergencies.

Make Valentines Day Special

By Michelle Moglia

Valentine's Day. Every year couples scramble their brains for the perfect gift for their loved one. It doesn't matter if it is a new relationship or old, it is a task that better be done right or their will be trouble.

The best Valentine gifts are the gifts that can be enjoyed together as a couple. After all that was the intention of the special day, right. To celebrate relationships. So this year how about a special evening and romantic love poems! Not just a book of poems but an audio book of poems that are professionally narrated. Or maybe some of Shakespeare's romantic Sonnets. You can download them right to your computer, iPod, MP3 or even burn top a CD.

Imagine snuggling on the couch while enjoying the deep baritone narration of a lovely poem, a private dinner with a bottle of wine while the Shakespeare sonnets are played softly in the backdrop.

If you use your imagination, you can have some fun with this. Create anticipation by extending an invitation for a very special romantic evening. Why not slip a sample of love poems in the car CD player or load a love poem right onto their iPod to help warm up your special someone before they even get home. Make sure the kids are at Grandmas and you will have time alone. Create a romantic mood with candles and a sexy new outfit.

Start your evening off with a few strawberries dipped in chocolate that you feed to your Valentine. Strawberries act like an aphrodisiac and will help set the mood. Make sure your romantic dinner is light, not to heavy. Maybe you can make a picnic dinner in front of the fireplace or on top of the bed.

Your Valentines Evening should be special and not rushed. Take the time to enjoy each other and you will make memories to last a lifetime.

The Key To A Lasting Relationship

With Valentine's Day coming up, we are on the look-out for words of wisdom regarding love and relationships. We found one:

According to a survey of 600 Melburnians, the key to a lasting relationship is for both couples to have the same long-term goals. It makes sense. Long-term goals represent the values and priorities of an individual. Two individuals having the same goals mean they value the same things in life.
