How To Visually Inspect A Used Car For Sale

By Jim Johnson

There are always plenty of used cars for sale, and if you are looking to buy a used car, one of the most important parts of the buying process is to visually inspect it yourself to determine it's condition. Unless you are an auto mechanic, you probably won't be able to get a thorough picture of the mechanical shape of the car, but you can still learn a lot by doing a proper visual examination.

Before you begin, it's a good practice to have a checklist with you that allows you to make notes about what you see as you go. This can be important, especially if you are looking at more than car at a time. It's easy to get confused and not be able to recall specific details about each car after you have seen several in a row, so being organized about the process can help out a lot.

The outside is a good place to start, so look over the car body very carefully. Look for any evidence that the car has been in an accident in the past. Does the paint match on all body parts? Do you see an obvious paint line from a previous repair? This doesn't mean that it is not a good car, but you want to able to determine if the car has been in an accident and how extensive the damage was if you can. Look for dings and car damage that may need repair, and especially for signs of rust as this can be very hard to eradicate once it has begun on a vehicle.

Look over the tires. If they are pretty worn, plan on buying a new set of tires and factor that into the price you are willing to pay for the car. Also look for excessive wear patterns on the front tires. If it appears that they are wearing much faster on one side of the tire, that may be an indication that the front end may need work and you should also factor that into the car price.

Next go inside the car and continue your visual inspection by making notes about the condition of the interior. If you notice excessive wear on the seats and carpet, perhaps including stains, this is a good indication of the kind of care, or lack of it, that the former owner gave to the car. Keep in mind that even the best car can suffer from owner neglect and if that is the case here, it may be best to avoid this vehicle altogether.

Next try all of the power and climate controls on the dash. Make sure that all of the windows go up and down as they should, that the power seats work in all directions, that the wipers, directional signals, horn, and electronics work. Then start the car and check that the air conditioning blows cold, and the heat is hot. While it is running, listen for any noises that don't sound right.

By making this kind of visual inspection of each car that you seriously consider, you can determine in advance whether you should now move to the next step where you have an independent mechanic thoroughly inspect it mechanically for final consideration.

Used Car Parts For Sale

By Thomas Morva

Used car parts for sale can be found on the Internet, in the flea market, salvage yards, and many gas stations. Salvage yards are the best place to find used auto parts because of the many varieties that they provide the buyer with. This is not true of gas stations that may sell far cheaper but useless parts to unsuspecting buyers. Many gas stations on the highway sell these parts because they are able to buy these parts from people who abandon their cars and broken down vehicles on the highway.

Used car parts for sale can also be found in the flea market as well as in the wholesale and retail market. Many auto parts sellers deal in duplicate auto parts and care should be taken before buying the same. The market is flooded with Chinese duplicate auto parts that usually become useless after some use.

The market for used car parts is ever expanding because of the increase in production of automotive vehicles and cars. Recycling used car and automotive parts can solve the problem of disposing waste that is created because of abandoned and old cars. Recyclers also deal in used parts and usually sell quality products to their customers.

The Internet provides a buyer or a seller with a huge market for selling and buying used car and automotive parts. However, the quality of these parts cannot be judged easily because the parts cannot be actually seen and touched. Unbranded, locally manufactured or duplicate auto parts can prove to be dangerous.

Almost all the automobile companies offer original parts for their products if they need to be replaced. Some auto parts are also covered by warranties and some are not. It is advisable to buy used parts that are covered by a warranty but these are very rare and hard to find.

The used automotive market is very huge and there are countless options available for a buyer or a seller. Thus, selling and buying used auto parts can be a pleasurable activity if the dealer knows the proper places and markets.

Strong Sales for Cars and Light Trucks Forecasted

By Anthony Fontanelle

At the annual Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas, good news was shared to the car manufacturing industry by the chief economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association or NADA. Paul Taylor, who is renowned for his insightful analysis of automotive sales and the economic trends in the US, has forecasted that this year, 2007, sales of cars and light trucks will equal that of last year. He cited that the reason for the projected sales output in the year 2007 is the arrival of many high-quality fuel efficient vehicles.

Taylor said that signs in the economy and the market shows that this year will see a solid year in the sale of cars and light trucks. He added that any significant increase in the roughly estimated 16.5 million units to be sold will be hampered by steady interest rates as well as the continued slowing of home mortgage refinancing. But the two factors will definitely not stop the steady pace of vehicle sales unlike the EBC Greenstuff brake parts that can easily stop a moving vehicle.

The chief economist reported on the trends that governed the car and light truck sales last year. He said that light trucks comprise the biggest percentage of light vehicles used last year at 53 percent. Sedans also increased in sales but not enough to be the majority in the total sales of light vehicles in 2006. Another segment that exhibited continuous growth in the market share is the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) segment. CUV sales have increased by 9.1 percent over 2005 sales figures and Taylor has forecasted that the growth of the segment will continue and he even is brave enough to state that he is predicting an 8 percent increase in 2007.

Sedans, which have seen steadily growing demand, has increased their sales by 1.8 percent for the full-size sedans while for the small cars, the increase is 4.7 percent. New designs and better mileage of the cars played a major role to the increase in the demand of the public for them. This is apparent in the newer models which have radically changed their appearance to increase their aesthetic value.

A prime example of this is the cars from Volvo which has departed from their reputation of having a boxy design. The effort by car manufacturers to produce good looking cars is aimed to attract the attention of younger car buyers. The younger generation is the target now of different car makers hoping that they will create a loyal buyer base that would later see them being long term consumers.

Taylor further predicted that used car sales by franchised new car dealerships will best last year’s figures. “Used vehicles sales will receive increased attention by new car dealerships,” the economist quipped. He added that “dealers will look for ways to increase used-car sales, and at least 100,000 additional light vehicles are likely to sell at franchised new-car dealerships this year”. Taylor also stated that “used-car sales and parts and service revenue will be an important focus for dealers this year”.

Other factors that allows the chief economist to predict the steady pace of automobile sales for this year is the low employment numbers which average 4.6 to 4.8 percent in 2007. He also cited the number of people per month returning to work which rose up to 130,000 will be generating many used car costumers and a small number of new car customers.

Taylor spoke for the National Automobile Dealers Association which has been founded in 1917 and is based in McLean, VA. The association represents more or less 20,000 new car and truck dealers which has a combined number of franchises of 43,000 globally.

Using Classified Ads as a Valuable Sales Generator

By Matt Sherborne

Having the right attitude is as important as having the right offer, the right advertisement and the right target. You must know that your product or service is your identity.

Overly impressive advertisements, expensive commercials and graphics are not what are on your mind. The bottom line is customer interest. With this mindset you know your best prospects are current customers past customers or prospects like them.

Classified advertising is a form of advertising that many new business owners overlook. With today's shift in advertising from off-line to online sales, there's never been a better time to use this valuable marketing tool. Correctly applied classified ads can yield the most exposure to your product then any available online. However, when used improperly a classified ad can be a tremendous waste of money.

To be a success with classified ads and any off-line advertisements it’s absolutely critical to keep the five key components of direct marketing in mind at all times. The four components are the marketing message, the marketing target, the marketing vehicle and the marketing frequency. Simply put, you must always seek to deliver the right message to the right person in the right place at the right time for best results.

An important aspect of the classified advertising mindset is the numbers game. You must realize that a large percentage of the marketing does not produce results. If the response rate is 1% this means that 99% of your advertisement is a failure. However a 1% response rate in classified advertising is actually quite good. It takes a certain mindset to except this.

Knowing that success with classified advertising will come from measurement and testing will be extremely beneficial. You will realize that each adjustment you make to your headline body copy, advertising medium or frequency will have an effect on your performance. This will help you determine if something is ineffective or provide you with the insight to fix it and make it more productive.

The most productive and successful marketers all have the mindset of converting prospects to paying clients. They know the importance of quickly responding to leads, delivering sold goods and services and collecting customer data to sell additional products on the backend.

How To Maximize Your Return From Internet Classified Ads

By Donny Lowy

Classified ads have been a long time staple of the mail order business. They are relatively low priced, and can attract plenty of attention when used correctly

The same applies to Internet classified ads. They are a great resource since they are priced inexpensively in terms of their exposure, and can often be had for free.

Online classified ads are often offered to advertisers for free to build traffic for the publisher.

The publisher wants to create an audience of visitors who will come to his site on a regular basis. One way to build that traffic is by having classified ads that visitors will frequently read.

Since the publisher has other means of earning revenue for the site, he often will provide free classified ads on his site.

These classified ads should not be dismissed due to the fact that they priced low, or that they are free.

On the other hand, when used correctly they can be a great business building tool for any online business.

As a matter of fact, the Google Ad Words and Google Ad Sense program use the classified ad structure in their advertising programs.

Even though free classified ads might only attract a small amount of traffic, when used repeatedly, or in combination with other free classified ad sites, they can soon start proving the advertiser with a strong flow of online visitors.

For online classified ads to work they need to be used as lead generators. The purpose of the online classified ad is only to bring potential customers to your site.

If you are advertising a phone number, or a brick and mortar address, use it to generate leads.

Sales are difficult to obtain through the limited text available through an online classified ad.

But leads, which are the life blood of all businesses, can be quickly obtained through these ads.

Your Internet classified ad should be written in a realistic tone. You want Internet surfers to know that there is a real legitimate Internet business behind the ad.

To obtain a high response rate from the classified ad, and possibly even some sales if you take that route, stress benefits in your online classified ads.

Benefits are what motivate people into trying a new products and services.

Donny Lowy has set up http://www.billionfreeads.com to provide free online advertising for small businesses.

Classified Ads - Dirt Cheap Advertising For Your Business Opportunity

By Benjamin Fitts

Dirt Cheap Classified Ads can be a great way to promote your business. We've all seen the late night infomercials that say "If you make $25 selling a product from a $20 classified ad you can be a millionaire!" Simply keep taking out more ads and selling more products.

How do you do that?

Your first step is to find a source for dirt cheap classified ads.

Your second step is to learn to write effective marketing messages for your ads.

Your third step and most important is to track the results of your advertising. It doesn't matter if the ad costs you $100 if you make a profit from it! It also doesn't matter if it only costs $12 if the ad doesn't get you any results!

Where to Find Dirt Cheap Classified Ads? Dirt cheap classified ads exist everywhere! My first source of cheap ads was in the free promotional newspapers & magazines that I found at the grocery store when I was putting up flyers. These are the free magazines and newspapers that tell you what kinds of activities are happening in your area. You may also find some of the classified papers and help wanted papers.

These free magazines and newspapers are usually kept at the front of the grocery store either near the entrance or exit to the store. Often times this would be adjacent to the area where they accept flyer advertisements. If you live in a large city there may also be newspaper stands at your local street corner. In Boston where I currently live there are at least 9 different free papers/magazine stands on downtown street corners. A couple of the newsstands will be daily "pay" newspapers. The others will be free papers, classifieds, employment guides, real estate guides, weekend guides, etc. I occasionally walk around and pick up as many samples as possible for my collection. I email or call the paper and ask them to fax me over their classified advertising rates.

I've also found some great deals on newspaper circulars that are distributed by postal mail. When I lived in New Jersey there were two or three of these circulars that were sent to my home for free every month. I found advertising in some of these as cheap as $12 a week. In my tests they performed just as good as a $60 ad in the local daily paper!

Once you build up a collection of newspaper circulars you'll find companies that are conglomerates and syndicate papers in different regions. There are penny papers like "The Pennysaver" and there are free "Metro" newspapers. You can start your research with NationwideNewspapers.com a web site that lists newspapers all over the country. You can purchase classified ads for less than $50 anywhere in the USA.

Develop Effective Marketing Messages that Capture Reader's Attention

With classified ads you are paying by the word or by the line. When you are starting out you should start by keeping your messages short and simple.

For my first classified ad I took a message that I had already tested on flyers and put it in a few newspapers. I tracked the results to see which ads performed well.

My first ad was:

Help My home business is booming. I need a few select people to help part-time from home. Will train. Contact 877-236-3488 or www.benfitts.com

While this ad did attract calls it was not the most effective ad. About half the people calling the ad were looking for a JOB. The good thing was that the other half of the people was pretty decent candidates. I had several strong leads develop from this ad.

I also learned from a friend a REALLY simple way to advertise. My friend took out classified ads that ONLY contained a web address. My friend buys descriptive domain names and only includes that information in the ad.

So for example, I setup this domain just for an example of a descriptive opportunity domain that is meant to pique the reader's interest:

http://www.SecretHomeBusiness.com

I've got domain names for products as well as for the opportunity. My domains only cost me $9.95 per year so I can register a bunch of them and test them out. You should probably test them first by doing a survey. Take a bunch of possible names and put them on a sheet of paper or 3x5 cards. Then ask friends/family to select which one they like best. You can even take these to a public place like the mall and get some unbiased opinions! You may even find a new customer or distributor in the process!

The best way to learn to develop classified marketing messages is to... READ the classified ads! If you pickup the papers regularly you'll start to recognize some of the ads. It is pretty safe to assume that if someone spends enough money to put an ad in the paper every day for a year that the ad is getting results. I even know a few people that take out multiple ads in each paper per day!

Get the Most Bang for Your Buck by Tracking Your Results It is really difficult to succeed in your advertising if you don't track your results! You should be able to track which messages you use, and which newspapers you advertise in. It is a wonderful thing when you realize that a dirt cheap ad that costs less than $20 does better than an ad that costs $100!

I've already mentioned that I track ads by using Affordable Domain Names. I use a different web site address for each advertisement. I always use .com domains in my classified ads. If I take out an advertisement in the newspaper they have to type it in and I run a risk of them doing it wrong and going to the .com instead. I don't want to risk them going to someone else's web site!

I also track my ads using cost effective toll free numbers. I use a really awesome toll free system that starts at only $2 per month. I pay only 6.9 ¢ per minute. I can direct it to voice mail, route it to my telephone, route it to a different number based on time of day or geographic location.

By using a new toll-free number and domain name for each ad campaign I can track which ads are most successful and which advertising locations yield the best results. I keep an Excel Spreadsheet which tracks which ads are having the most luck. If you don't want to get as sophisticated you can get a simple spiral notebook or journal and keep track of your results in there. It doesn't matter how you do it, the important thing is to track your results!

Conclusion Dirt cheap classified ads can be a very effective way to promote your business opportunity or your product. The key is to test your ads and track your results so you can find which ads work well and which are failures. Another trick is to not spend too much money at once so if your advertisement is a failure you haven't wiped out your budget. Using special domain names or toll-free numbers can allow you to track the results of the same advertisement in different newspapers. With a small budget and a little patience, you can be achieving success in no time.

Mini-Persuaders: Six Steps To Successful Classified Ads

By Angela Booth

Are you running classified ads regularly? You should. They're a powerful way to promote your business inexpensively.

Online, you can place ads in ezines and on Web sites, and offline, run them in your local paper and in trade magazines.

If you've tried a classified or two to promote your business and were disappointed with the results, remember that a one-shot deal won't work.

You need to run your ads repeatedly. For months, not weeks. Run one classified a week in a newspaper, or one a month in magazine read by your target audience ---for at least four months.

The humble classified ad is the magic bullet of advertising. And like a bullet, it needs to be precisely aimed.

=> Step One: Pick your bait

Somehow you've got to pack the copywriter's AIDA formula of an successful ad: Attract, Interest, Desire, and Action, into 30 words.

You attract interest, arouse desire and get the reader to take action, with an appealing bait.

Start by listing everything you can think of to say about your product or service. Don't limit yourself. Don't just cover all the features you usually cover. Write down *everything* you can think of. You should have a long list.

Let's say you're selling a German Shepherd puppy. You can include: color, age, sex, the pedigree, temperament, conformation, and vaccination history. Don't confine yourself to only these points however.

Add that he'll sit and drop on command, walks on a lead, loves the cat, and is greedy. The more attributes you list about your puppy, the more likely it is that you'll hit on a unique combination of words which will make your ad stand out.

In your 30-word ad, you can't cover everything, so you'll tailor your ad to your ideal buyer, by mentioning only those things which will appeal to that ideal buyer.

This pre-screens your buyers for you. It doesn't matter what you're advertising either, whether it's a car, a lawn mowing service, a job, or a business.

When you've listed everything, pick four or five things you think would appeal to your ideal buyer.

=> Step Two: Write the headline

Your classified ad won't really have a headline, but the first line functions as a headline. It should stop the reader cold, and it must be part of your sales message.

Remember that in newspapers, classifieds run in categories with headed columns, so don't repeat words like "For Sale".

=> Step Three: Write the body copy

You can't be too creative in a basic classified. Give the facts. You can add descriptive words like "charming", "classic", and "elegant" to spice up the copy. Use punctuation rather than linking words like "and".

Get enthusiastic about what you're selling. This enthusiasm will come across in the ad. Imagine yourself the buyer: using the item, applying for the job, or buying from the business.

This enthusiasm is vital when you're selling. If for some reason you're having a bad morning, put the ad away for a few hours until you can achieve genuine enthusiasm

If you're writing an ad for someone else, and you don't feel excited, it's usually because you don't know enough about what you're selling. Do a little more research.

=> Step Four: Get the response

Don't forget to add the phone number, the address if required, or the online URL.

The response is usually placed last in a classified. However, you can make your ad stand out by giving the phone number or the URL, and then making one final selling point: "Three only", "free quotes", or "results guaranteed".

=> Step Five: Write several versions

Write at least four versions of the ad. Then go and do something else. When you come back, you'll have more perspective so you can pick the best one.

Here's a successful technique: if you have so many selling points that the ad runs long, split it and run two ads.

=> Step Six: Test your ad

Testing is a must for a business ad. Often changing the first line, or rearranging your selling points will double or triple the pulling power of an ad.

How do you test? The basic process is to run the ad, and record the response. Ask the people who responded what drew their attention to the ad.

Keep changing the ad slightly, and recording the response each time you run it. The ad you settle on for longterm use is the ad which pulled the most responses.

The Power of Online Classified Advertising

By Edeh Chijioke

Classified advertising is a form of advertising that is usually textually based, often seen in newspapers, and can consist of as little as the type of item or product being offered for sale. It can also have a telephone number to call for more or further information related to the product, a name to contact, an address to contact or visit, and detailed description of the product or products. There are generally no pictures or other graphics within the advertisement, even though sometimes a logo may be used.

Classified advertising is called such because it is generally grouped or categorized within the publication under headings classifying the products or services being offered (headings such as health, automobiles, internet marketing, clothing, real estate, shopping, etc.) and is grouped entirely in a distinct section of the newspaper which makes it distinct from display advertising, which often contains graphics or other art work and which is more typically distributed throughout a publication adjacent to editorial content.

Internet or online classified advertising or ads do not typically use per-line pricing model, so they tend to be longer than the printed classified ads in newspapers and other periodicals such as magazines. Online classified ads are also more readily searchable unlike the offline or printed classified ads. And tend to be local classifieds with a great sense of urgency because of their daily structure. Some companies offer free online classified ads internationally because of their self-policing nature and low cost structures. Some companies focus mainly on regional areas, while others blanket urban centers by using zip codes.

The main point is that no matter how powerful and important your online product is no body will know about it if there isn’t any advertisement to show that the product really exists on the internet. This is exactly where classified advertising comes in. There are many products in the same niche as your products. That is, you have many competitors fighting for the same space with you and the earlier you find out that such competitions exists the better for you. Insider Secrets on How to Write a Compelling Classified Ad

By Christine Groth

We all use classifieds ads in newspapers and on the internet to sell and advertise but often we are frustrated with the results we receive.

It is my hope to enlighten you and relieve some of your frustrations in the world of advertising. Below I will state 6 rules of advertising in hopes of bringing you success.

Rules of Classified Advertising

1. The headline of an ad must catch the reader’s attention instantly. As a writer you must use words that get people’s attention. You want to make them feel that they have found the place that they are looking for. On the internet people are scanning at the speed of light, if you don’t capture there attention they are off to the next page. Secret words that always create big headlines are: breakthrough, the truth about, insider-secrets, announcing, amazing secrets, how to, top secret, discover, free, advice to, love, little-known secrets, sale.

2. The body of the ad must keep their attention: Use words that excite people, and make your product seem amazing and one of a kind. You need to sound excited about your product or no one else will be excited. Words that can explain your product: first class, excellent, outstanding, America’s number one, the ultimate, unrivaled, unmatched, the top, unbeatable, the best anywhere, supreme.

3. The ad must target potential customers for your product. If you place your ad in the wrong location you will merely end-up with tire-kickers. Or in other words-people who are just wasting your time. Be selective and creative as to where you place your ad. One example, I recently placed in ad in the childcare section of a classified paper. Not because I was looking for care, but I was intending on approaching mom’s who wanted to work at home and did not want childcare. Many moms don’t want to work but unfortunately have to for financial reasons.

4. Be consistent. This is the most important thing I can say about advertising. Do not pull your ad off the shelf because your item has shown no interest. Statistics show that it takes an average of 7 times seen before a consumer will react.

5. Add a Guarantee. Sales Jump when you insure confidence with a guarantee. If people feel that you are not trying to rip them off, and there is some kind of alternative to a product that they may not be happy with they will be more inclined to buy.

6. Use ads with pictures, graphics, or colorful logo’s. 90% of all persons viewing pages with your ads will not leave the page without looking at graphics. It increases the chance of people seeing your product.

The Secrets Of Free Classified Advertising - Tracking

By Tim Fulcher

Introduction

One of the best ways to build your home business is by advertising on free classified sites

The great thing of course is that the advertising is free, and so any results you get are "value" because you have not had to pay for it

Tracking Is Essential

However free classified advertising can be a mine-field to the unwary

Remember: there is no shortage of websites on the internet that are quite happy for you to "buy" their advertising product, even though they know themselves that their advertising product is pretty close to worthless!

Therefore make this your golden rule:
>>= Always Track Your Advertising =<<

What Is Tracking?

If you are unsure what tracking really means, this introduction will help When you are advertising on the internet, you really need to find out who is clicking your ads, where they saw your ad, did it convert into a sale, and what was their referring URL

To "track" your advertising its usual to have a redirect URL of some some kind, which records the data that we are interested in e.g. was there a click and if so on which site did the click come from, what was the operating system of the user that clicked and what was the referring URL etc. You can often set up the same redirect URL for the same target URL you are advertising, but use a different code at the end of the re-direct URL to signify the site you are advertising on e.g. my redirect could be www.somedomain.com/cgi-bin/track.php?r=1000 - here the "r=1000" is the code for the particular classified site I am using

Lets go through the elements of tracking in a bit more detail

1) Who is clicking on your ad?
We don't want to know exactly who! but we do want to know if anyone clicked on our ad. Its just too easy for someone to let us advertise on their website, with the assumption that our ad will be clicked, when all the time they know that its very unlikely that any of the ads will be clicked by anyone
If you are going to make any assumption about your advertising, then always assume that no one clicked on your ad unless you have evidence to prove otherwise

2) Where was the ad that was clicked?
Its all very well knowing that my ad was clicked - but I need to know which ad and on which site. If I post 3 different classified ad on 10 different sites, then its no good knowing just that "one" of them was clicked. I need to know which one and on which site

Proper tracking will give me this information. Usually I just log into the admin or members area of the tracking service I am using, and there will be a listing of all the redirect URL's I have used and the clicks that are recorded for each one

Now of course you have to get organized so that you know which tracking code you are going to use for each site and for each ad. There is nothing worse than not keeping a record and then not knowing which site gave you the click when you find out that the "r=4571" has recorded a click!

So it is essential to keep good records of what you are doing for the ads you are posting. After a while of course you will find out which sites are giving you clicks, and therefore you can rely on these sites since you have tested them and they are obviously working

3) What Was The Referring URL

The referring URL is simply the webpage the person visited, immediately before the page where they saw your ad. With a Classified Ad site this will probably be a directory or category index page

This aspect of tracking has become very important more recently as the search engines regularly spider good free classified sites. This is because from the Search Engines point of view, when lots of new ads are posted every day, this equals new fresh content. Search Engines will always give a site a higher ranking that is adding new fresh original content regularly.

However this produces a major downside for anyone posting ads to classified sites - because not only will the search engine spiders visit the sites - they will also click the links!

This will mean our tracking software will record "apparent" clicks - but they are not clicks at all, since it was a script from the search engines that clicked on our ads and not a real person reading our ads

Once again this underlines why advertising online can be a minefield for the unwary. To spot these "phantom clicks" you need to look carefully on the referring URL

Search Engine spiders generally use some kind of "bot" which will be included in the information about the operating system of the user. If you see "bot" anywhere in the information from your tracking system, then this means the person that clicked was a search engine and not a real person. Google use something called "googlebot" for example, while Yahoo currently use "slurp". These kind of clicks should not be regarded as real clicks by anyone. I know of quite a number of classified ads sites which get clicks from search engine bots but not from real people!!

4) Did The Click Convert To A Sale Or Lead

This is much more difficult to track, and certainly most tracking software will not provide this information. Extra code is required to be placed into your website in order to provide this information - PHP is the easiest vehicle for this information, though it can also be done via CGI. However a discussion of these modifications to your website is several articles all by itself. Suffice it to say for now, that this kind of tracking information can be provided relatively easily. Some pay per click organisations also provide code which can tell you when ads resulted in a sale e.g. Google Adwords

Conclusion

Free Classified Advertising really can work, but you do need to track your "clicks" to make sure you only concentrate on those sites which actually give you real people clicking on your adverts

A Look At Some Of The Best Classified Ad Writing Strategies

By Gregg Hall

Don't be daunted by having to write a classified ad to sell your product or service. It's really not all that hard. Here are some classified ad writing strategies you can use now to sell your product or service and start making money:

First of all, study what successful marketers are doing. There's no better way to learn how to be successful at anything than by following what successful people do. Obviously can't copy a successful classified ad word-for-word but as you study these ads you'll start to see common elements which you can utilize in your own classifieds. Study the ads in the newsletters, newspapers, magazines, etc. which you're subscribed to or read regularly. Browse the internet and look and the text ads you see all over the place. Consider the ones you like and think about why you like them. Respond to the ads you like and see what response you get in turn. This will further enhance your understanding of the classified ad process and increase your chances of success.

Don't just look at classified ads, though. Larger scale ads can be educational, too. Look at what the big guys are doing with their conventional "junk mail", advertising inserts, and big, bright, colorful ads. While you're not looking to advertise on that scale, there are important tips and tricks you can learn by closely studying such campaigns.

There are plenty of web sites which allow you to place classified ads for free. This is a great way to practice writing ad copy. You have nothing to lose!

Don't sell expensive items directly from classified ads. Instead, provide basic information which encourages the reader to visit your web site or to email you. Then you can find the specifics on your site or through an auto-responder email message.

Advertise in more than one place at a time. It's not good to rely on just one publication to sell your product or service. By placing classified ads in multiple locations, you'll increase the number of eyeballs on your ads and increase the likelihood of success. Don't just place your ads willy-nilly, though. You need to target your ads. It doesn't make sense to sell skateboards on a fishing site site, or offer business advice in a kids magazine. Common sense can be your guide here.

Pay attention to who's responding to your classified ads. Never forget to follow up on inquiries. Be professional. Slow or non-existent responses will totally defeat the purpose of what you're trying to do. Don't just respond, but also keep records of your correspondence. Knowing who you're attracting with your classified ads will help you better target your readers. Keep track of which of your ads are finding success. Be aware of who they're attracting and where they were placed.

Perhaps most important of all, change your classified ads if they're not working for you. Don't ever give up! If you're not finding success, then do something different with your ads. If you place the same ad over and over again, you'll increase the chances that people will just ignore it. People love novelty, so change your ads periodically. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Placing classified ads is an excellent, cost-effective method for selling your product or service.

Online Image Hosting Boosts The Performance Of Newspaper Classified Ads

By Janet Doherty

Image hosting is a service provided by websites or Internet service providers allowing users to store photos or images to their servers by uploading them to a website. These photos are accessible to the users by the codes provided by the host. These service providers allow users to hotlink these images to their personal websites, or to use as photos for selling items in newspaper classified ads.

Newspaper classified ads are usually not accompanied by photos so advertisers must be creative in describing the product to ignite interest in the buyer. Ads may contain a catchy statement about the product with a carefully chosen adjective or two that will make the buyer call the seller for more information about the product. Sometimes, buyers will ask to see the product and will try to set an appointment with the seller. This costs both buyer and seller time. Imagine having dozens of people calling to see the product! Certainly, it will be difficult to meet with all of them.

With the image hosting service offered by this website, a user may upload photos of the items they're selling and just post the specific URL on their ad space to save on advertising costs. It also saves the buyer and the seller time. This type of service may be used for classifieds in national and local newspapers. Because the Internet is a very prolific and highly accessible medium, sellers and service providers will surely receive more responses from their ads. The more interest generated by the ad with the aid of the hosted photo, the higher the chances of closing the best deals. That's money earned from savings on advertising and from the bigger margins from the sale!

Image hosting for classifieds may be used for a host of purposes. It is especially helpful in pet classifieds, for dog breeders and sellers because buyers want to see that the pet they are buying to make sure they are just perfect. This type of service may also be used when selling practically anything and everything related to pets for sale: dogs for sale , cats for sale, dog food, even dog clothes and accessories.

Take note however that this service is not limited to pets for sale. You can upload images of any item you are trying to sell in the classifieds section. Instead of purchasing a couple of column centimeters in your local newspaper just so you can post a photo of that car you are selling, just upload the image on the website for free. Your photos are uploaded in just minutes. Use the service for other services like homes for rent, garage sale announcements, lost pets, furniture, electronics and any other ad placements in the newspaper classifieds.

Post photos from low-end to high-end products and sell them faster. Make the adage- a picture speaks a thousand words - work for you. Upload images of your product on the website and wait for that phone to ring.

Tips on Selling Your Used Car

By Janet Doherty

PREPARING YOUR CAR FOR SALE:

Used cars have greater chances of being sold faster and at a higher price when they are well prepared prior to selling. Cars that look good give good impression on the total condition of the car. Your car should look clean inside and out. Used cars look presentable when they are washed and waxed in the exterior and vacuumed in the interior. Detailing it can also give an added boost. Buffing the paint and airbrushing do not only hide scratches and marks, but will also make your car look in its top condition. Bringing the car to a full service wash is also a good idea, which can guarantee the car to come out looking good. Including a free car wash booklet to your local car wash with the sale can also make your car more attractive to potential buyers.

FIXING YOUR CAR:

Cars with more damages sell less. Even minor defects such as burnt lights and fuses for example are eyesores to prospective clients. If you can repair obvious damages to your cars, do it. Repair or replace parts whenever you can afford. Remember that sellers and dealers can point out the cost of repairs as reasons to haggle for lower price. Of course this only includes low cost repairs. If you are selling your vehicle, you don’t want to make any high cost repairs.

DETERMINING THE VALUE OF YOUR CAR:

Check the fair market value of your car and order a Vehicle History Report to prove the car's title is clean and the odometer is accurate. Determine a fair asking price of your car by checking out similar cars that are advertised for sale in your local newspaper classifieds. This will give you an idea of a price range that is competitive in the used car market. Sell your car yourself rather than have it traded by a dealer. You can set up a higher price for your car when you sell them yourself. Dealers have to resell the car so they usually buy cars less than the real worth of the cars.

ADVERTISING YOUR CAR:

You can sell your car directly by showing it to friends or family members who may be planning to purchase a used car. You may also post a sign with your contact number in your car so interested parties can see that the car is for sale. Utilizing public bulletin boards can also be very helpful. The best way to find a local buyer for your vehicle is to place an ad in your local newspaper classifieds. The best time of the year to sell a vehicle is in the springtime so if at all possible, wait until that time to list your car. Posting photos of your car is also highly recommended because it allows interested buyers to see what your car looks like. It also makes the car more attractive because it will give buyers an idea of what they would exactly get. If your newspaper does not offer photos or if the photo option is too costly, you can use a photo hosting service for your classified ads. By providing online photos, prospective buyers will be able to preview your vehicle before they call for an appointment. This will eliminate any needless client queries about your car and attract serious buyers.

Breeding and Selling Dogs

By Janet Doherty

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BREEDING?

Breeding dogs involve thorough evaluation of the animal’s health prior to breeding. Medium and large breeds, for example, should be checked for hip dysphasia and smaller breeds should be checked for femoral head necrosis. Dogs with health problems are not suitable for breeding. Breeders also have to abide and observe any state law regarding breeding. The state generally encourages breeders to observe good health practices in breeding dogs. Breeding dogs involves investment and this comes in the form of the expenses that can be incurred for feeds, vaccines and veterinary services.

HOW TO BREED DOGS

Dogs should be bred only after they are mature enough (around two years of age) because breeding dogs earlier can result to stagnancy in growth. The health condition of the animal should also be considered because dogs with genetic problems and poor temperament are not recommended for breeding. Proper care should be given to the dog after being successfully impregnated. This involves bringing the bitch to the veterinarian for prenatal visits. The breeder should also be informed about the birthing process and how he should prepare for it. Proper nourishment is also vital so there should be sufficient food and water. Prenatal vitamins can also be given when advised by the veterinarian.

SELLING YOUR DOGS

Selling can be considered once the dog has produced its litter. You can sell your dog by spreading the word to your friends and family members. You can also place newspaper classified ad and set up appointments for those who want to see your dogs, however, this can be time consuming for you and your client. Alternatively, you can add photo links to your ads so interested parties can just go online and see the pictures of your dogs. You can utilize an image hosting service and show up to 10 pictures of your dogs in just one short web link. Interested buyers will be able to view the photos before the make an appointment. This will attract more serious buyers who are definitely interested in purchasing your dog.

HOW TO FIND GOOD HOMES FOR YOUR DOGS

As a breeder, you should be able to know your puppies and decide the best home for their type and temperament. You can evaluate the attitude of the prospective owners to the puppies by asking them several questions as to how they plan to take care of the puppy. You may ask them where the dog will stay and who will feed it in case the whole family is gone for schooling and work. You can also give the prospective owners advice as to how you take care of your dogs and give them several tips about caring and feeding the dog. The contract between you and the new owner should also insure the safety of the puppy in its new home. You may, for example, take back the dog if the new owner is not able to keep the puppy.

By Janet Doherty

It’s Spring Cleaning Time! The weather is getting warmer and it is time to dig through those closets, garages and storage areas and turn your unused items into cash! Traditionally, this is the busiest time of the year for classified advertising. Motor vehicles and recreational vehicles are especially big sellers during the warm weather. If you are considering selling, now is the time. Hundreds of potential buyers are out there reading the Sunday morning newspaper every week, so take advantage of the opportunity to sell your items. Below you will find some great tips to help you get the ball rolling.

1.PREPARE: Determine the items around your home that you no longer need. Once you have collected these items, confirm that they are in working order and in good selling condition. If items have been in storage for a long period of time, you may need to clean them up to make them more attractive to potential buyers.

2.RESEARCH: After all items are collected, do your research. Determine the value of your items and decide whether it would be worth you time and effort to place a classified ad. Some things will do well on their own while others may do better in a garage sale setting. If certain items do not have enough value to justify placing an advertisement and you are not interested in hosting a garage sale, donate these items to a local charity for a nice tax deduction.

3.WHERE TO ADVERTISE: Once you have the items sorted out, you need to decide the best method of advertising. Most items will do best advertised in your daily newspaper since you will be able to reach a local audience. Online classifieds generally do not receive as many local buyers, but most are free so you may want to place an ad there as well just to cover all the bases. If you are selling a larger item such as a car, motorcycle, motor home, etc., you will also want to place prominent for sale signs on the items themselves. You can also utilize bulletin boards in your local community to post a free advertisement.

4.DRAFTING YOUR AD: What are the most attractive selling features of your items for sale? Decide which of these features you want to highlight in your advertisement. Look for classified ads for similar items to get an idea of how they are written. Check out the competition to see how your item is better or different than the items that will be running along side your ad.

5.WRITING YOUR AD: Create a catchy title to get your reader’s attention. This will spark an interest in your classified ad. Always include the brand name when applicable. Price should only be included in the title if it is an obvious selling point. Next, you need to write the body text of your ad and entice buyers even further with the details. Make your description clear and factual. Provide specific details in what it is that makes your item stand out from the others. Be honest in your representation and do not make your item appear better than it actually is. Always include the price in your ad. Take some time to view other classified ads for similar items in your newspaper. This will help you determine a fair asking price for your item. Keep in mind, just because you paid $1,500 for your dining room set, does not mean you will receive that much for it on resale. Be realistic in your expectations. Furthermore, if you will only be available during certain times of the day to discuss your item, make a note of this in your advertisement so buyers know the best time to reach you. If possible, include your email address.

6.INCLUDING PHOTOS: A picture is worth a thousand words. Some local newspapers provide you with the option to include photos with your classified ad. Be sure to include the photos! When buyers have the opportunity to see an article for sale they have a higher degree of interest and are more likely to buy when they follow up by telephone or email to ask questions or to get more information. If your newspaper does not offer photos or the photo option is too expensive, you can use an online classified photo hosting service. Visit http://www.seethisitem.com for information on how to include free digital photos with your newspaper classified ad.

7.COMMUNICATING WITH BUYERS: Do your best to be available when customers call for information regarding your item. Be polite and helpful and answer all questions to the best of your knowledge.

8.SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS: If you receive numerous calls for your item, be sure to space out the appointments so that you will have enough time to spend with each buyer and your appointments will not overlap. Safety tip: Whenever possible, have someone home with you when a buyer is coming over to look at your item. You really can never be too careful when dealing with people you have never met before.

9.NEGOTIATION: Decide before you negotiate, the lowest amount you will be willing to accept for your item. This will assure a smoother negotiation process.

10.PAYMENT: Never accept a check for your item. You should only accept cash or money orders. If a buyer decides they want the item, but they do not have cash on them, always take a deposit to hold the item until they are able to come back. Be sure to set a deadline for them to return with the balance due. Even though you have a deposit, do not stop showing your item since the deal is not final until you have the cash in your hand. If someone else is also interested, tell them you just received an offer, but you will be happy to take down their name and number in case the deal falls through. This will give you more options should the original buyer back out of the sale.

That’s it! Keep these selling tips in mind and you will be on the road to a successful sale. Take your time, be thorough and most of all have fun! If you follow the steps outlined above, you will be turning your unused items into cash in no time.

Effective FSBO Advertising Writing

By Mark Camphaug

Most buyers will discover your home either by driving by and seeing your professional real estate yard sign (surprisingly, 18% of all home sales are initiated by lawn signs), visiting your webpage or by reading your advertisement in the newspaper or local newsletter.

Since it costs money to advertise in any major print media, you’ll want to keep your ad short but effective. You still need to highlight the most important features of your home. The purpose of an advertisement is to get buyers to call you for more information. It should contain enough information for the prospective home buyer to pre-qualify themselves in terms of price range and location, but not so much that it costs a fortune to run or eliminates the need for potential buyers to call you for answers to their questions.

The minimum your ad should contain:

• The fact that you are selling FSBO. Usually this means either putting FSBO, For Sale by Owner or BY OWNER at the beginning of the ad.

• The price of the home. While this will disqualify some buyers, what is the sense of having $75,000 or $300,000 buyers call you when your house is priced at $175,000? Buyers shop by price, so put yours in the ad.

• Your neighborhood. You can best decide whether you want to list the specific neighborhood or just the area of town. If your neighborhood is well known and highly desirable, obviously you should include the name. However, if you are selling a home in a less desirable neighborhood, just put in the area of town. Get an idea of what others are doing by looking at classified ads for homes in your area.

• Prospective home buyers generally have a size in mind when they look for homes. Most buyers know that they need at least 3 bedrooms or a family room or a large yard. Put the approximate size of your house in the ad, along with number of bedrooms and baths.

• The most compelling selling feature of your home. For instance, if you are selling a low-priced home, the feature might be that the payment is no higher than typical rent. Or, your home might be completely remodeled, or unusually charming or a wonderful family home. Your schools might be exemplary or your neighborhood very family-oriented. Or perhaps your yard backs onto a park or that your home is priced below appraisal. These are all features that will draw buyers.

• Your PHONE NUMBER, WEBPAGE ADDRESS and FSBO reference #!

So, a good small classified ad might look like this:

BY OWNER $150,000 3 BD/2BA Colonial in Parklawn Village. Excellent schools, great neighborhood, priced below market. Call XXX-XXXX - or visit www.website.com - FSBO# XXXX.

Another type of ad you could consider is a more informative ad. This would be a good ad to place in a neighborhood newsletter or on bulletin boards of local employers or in your information box on your sign. This type of ad doesn’t work well for classified advertising because it is simply too expensive to include so many words. An informative ad would include all of the above, plus more personal information.

For instance, a good informative ad might look like this:

LIVE BY A PARK! BY OWNER $150,000 3 BD/2BA Colonial in Parklawn Village. Enjoy a wonderful yard with built-in barbecue all summer and gaze at a winter wonderland all winter from the cozy fire-lit family room. This charming family home is nicely and neutrally decorated and in move-in condition. The neighborhood offers excellent schools, a swimming pool and tennis court – all in a fantastic location and priced below market! Please call for more details: XXX-XXXX - or visit www.website.com - FSBO# XXXX

How To Capture Leads with Classified Ad

By Heri Rosyadi

There are many free online/offline classified ad out there. Some people thinks that it doesnt really work to get the prospect with that service. The fact is that many new marketers using it, posting their offer over and over again. Why? because its easy and FREE.

I'll show you the right way to advertise with it. You must use a two step ad. this is the working example:

Ordinary people are making EXTRAORDINARY money WORKING FROM HOME on the Internet! Get FREE info by email. Send your request to: pathtosucessonline@getresponse.com

You can see that the Ad is short eye catching, but the reason why it calls a two steps Ad is because it does'nt lead your prospect directly to your promoted website. It works two steps:

Step 1 asking the prospect to send email to the autoresponder address.

Step 2 the autoresponder capture the email and then send an offering email with your website link in it. You can send blank email to the above address to see how it work from inside.

Most of the time this is the most effective way with Classified Ad, where you can only put a very short Ad in it. So the job of your ad only to grab the attention and drive them to send an email for complete information, make them curious about your product!

In order to execute this type of promotion you need to have your own autoresponder, there are some free autoresponders out there. The autoresponder will capture the email and send the offering email automatically so your job only placing your ad to many free classified ads out there. You need to set up the offering letter first in your autoresponder before placing the ad.

I have used this strategy with local yellowpages and I put my ad only once a week and I got new leads/subscribers everyday with the little effort I've done.

Happy List Building!

Creating Successful Classified Ads

By M. Jones

Free Classified ads are a useful tool for a number of different occupations. You may be offering/looking for a job or advertising and work from home opportunity. Free classified ads were one of my first ports of call when trying to get referrals for affiliate programmes. They are quick and easy to set up, they are free and most importantly of all they give RESULTS.

There are a zillion different free classified ad sites out there. To find them just type in Google 'Free classified ads' and there will be about 15 million results. My advice would be stick to the first page or so for the simple reason that those are the sites, that get the most traffic and so you ad will be seen the most with then. This does not mean you shouldn't post you ad on sites further down the search results but they will be less effective.

Don't forget to submit to the sponsored links at the top of the search results as well.

Free classified ads will not bring you immediate success, but they are a good place to start. I have never posted a blog ad on them but I post my affiliate links (only on the free classified ad sites where that is allowed).

Free classified ads are usually displayed in a similar way to a forum. They consist of a title, which is what the reader sees (rather like a topic title on a forum) and then the main body of the add (similar to the starting post in a forum, only the reader cannot always reply, unless you give your email address). I would recommend you write the body of your add in a text editor like Microsoft Word and then copy/paste it into the section; although keep it flexible because different free classified ad sites allow you different word limits.

You may want to advertise a few different affiliate links, in which case write your post/ad body for all of them first and post them all on the same site at once, rather than going through all the sites posting one ad and then doing it all again for another. This is because some of the sites you find, despite specifying 'free' in the search, will not be free, or you will not be allowed to submit your affiliate link; you will find yourself trying to post on a site where you already tried and failed with an earlier ad.

How to Write Classified Ads that Get Results Now

By DeAnna Spencer

SELLING DIRECTLY FROM A CLASSIFIED AD

Classified ads can be used to sell products directly from the ad.
This works best for items costing no more than
approximately $5. The best use for classified ads is to utilize
them in obtaining inquiries. This is called the two step
approach. The first step is to get maximum inquiries from the
classified ad, in the second step the promotional package is sent
to the prospect and as many inquiries as possible are converted
to buyers.

CLASSIFIED ADS FOR MAXIMUM INQUIRIES

Classified ads are substantially less expensive than small space
ads, but by no means are they cheap. Most national publications
catering to the mail order business charge from $3 to $8 per
word. A well laid out ad should consist of about 20 words which
includes the company name and address. It is important that you
remind yourself that only the purpose is to get the prospect to
take immediate action and write for more information.

Before you write the ad know exactly what it is you want to sell.
You must know very specifically what you are going to accomplish
through this ad. Once you have determined what you want to get
across to the reader, write it out in one or more complete
sentences. For example, you have the reproduction rights for
several reports and want to market them. So the objective is: "I
want to get the maximum number of responses to inquire about my
self-publishing material which has excellent income potential and
is easy to market, especially for a newcomer to the business."

This ad may read as follows:

TREMENDOUS PROFITS THROUGH SELF-PUBLISHING! Start part-time. Easy
to do. Request free Special Report! XYZ Publishing/E, PO Box
1000, Frederick, MD 20908.

THE OPENING LINE

The first 3 or 4 words-- are critical. Since there are hundreds
of classified ads in any given publication you must be able to
get the reader who scans all, or some of them, to stop in his
tracks when he gets to your ad and read your ad and then take
action.

Open any publication and review the ads and you will see that
many of those ads have absolutely no purpose. They are a total
waste of money. But that is good for you since I am sure you will
make a real effort to get your message across. Here are a couple
of examples of useless ads:

Still Looking For A New Beginning? Write.......

What do they mean by that? How does any of that pertain tome and
what am I supposed to make of that? Here is another one:

The Easiest Business On Earth. Valuable information mailed
free.....

Do you think many people are going to write in for an ad like
that. Especially not since there are hundreds of other ads in
competition for the readers' time.

THE OBJECT IS TO GET THE READER TO TAKE ACTION - NOW!

In less that 25 words you have to create a message that will make
a reader stop; give him a reason - benefits to him - why this is
for him; tell him what to do - action; and provide the vital
information. It is as simple and as complicated as that. Simple
because you know what you want to accomplish, but complicated
because it has to be done with so few words. I think you can see
why it is virtually impossible to sell a $10 or $20 item from a
classified ad. You just would not have enough space to tell a
story compelling enough to convince someone to part with $10 or
$20.

SELF-CENTERED ADVERTISING COPY IS INEFFECTIVE

With some practice you should have no problem getting lots of
inquiries from your ads. Stay away from "Self-centered
advertising copy", copy that speaks about you. How great you or
your company are, or how great your product is.

The only thing the reader cares about is himself. What's in in
for Number One! Nothing else.

SOME COST SAVING TIPS

Almost all weekly and monthly publication will charge for each
word including your company name and address. Most daily
newspapers have a per line rate. Since just the address can take
up from 6-10 words here are some ways you can save money.

The following ad has 23 words.

TREMENDOUS PROFITS THROUGH SELF-PUBLISHING
Start part-time. Easy to do.
XYZ Publishing Co.
Dept 12 P.O. Box 1000 Frederick, MD 20908

This ad has 21 words.

TREMENDOUS PROFITS THROUGH SELF-PUBLISHING
Start part-time. Easy to do. Free details.
XYZ Publishing/E (The E becomes the code instead of Dept 12
PO Box 1000
Frederick, MD 20908

Or this one which has 18 words

SELF-PUBLISHING, TREMENDOUS PROFITS!
Start part-time. Easy! Free report.
XYZ Publishing/E
PO Box 1000
Frederick, MD 20908

Some publications charge 2 words for the zip code and state, some
only one. If you live in a city which consists of several words
such as Palm Beach Gardens you are only charged for 1 word.

Evaluate the cost effectiveness of your ad by the cost per
inquiry and not the cost of the ad. Example a $150 ad generates
170 inquiries $0.88 per word versus a $28 ad which generates 15
inquiries at a cost of $1.87 each.

WHEN THE INQUIRIES START ARRIVING

If you have written and placed an effective ad and the inquiries
start rolling in, the most important job, or actually several
jobs have to be done. They are as follows:

1. Your sales/promotional package must be ready before the first
inquiry arrives and it must be answered promptly, preferably the
same day but certainly within 48 hours. The longer you wait the
more chances are that a competitor will win out over you.
Although some people will wait for weeks before they make a
decision, many will act within days.

2. The ad you are placing is just the beginning. The names which
are generated from the ad must be used again and again in order
for your total advertising effort to be effective in the long
term.

3. A percentage of your inquiries from this first ad will become
buyers. You need to send these buyers additional offers within
several weeks after their first purchase and thereafter mail at
least 3 times per year to them. You drop them from your list if
they have not bought anything for about 8 - 12 months.

4. The inquiries that did not buy buy this time may still buy at
a later time. You can send them the same material again, or a
similar offer. It is advisable to send 2-3 more mailing to them.

Many mail order companies may only make a small profit or just
break even when the actual sales results are measured against a
single ad. But over the life of the customers which are converted
from those inquiries and the subsequent purchases from the
inquiries who were not converted from the initial ad many
hundreds or thousands of additional dollars will be generated.
